How can airborne transmission of COVID-19 indoors be minimised?

During the rapid rise in COVID-19 illnesses and deaths globally, and notwithstanding recommended precautions, questions are voiced about routes of transmission for this pandemic disease. Inhaling small airborne droplets is probable as a third route of infection, in addition to more widely recognized transmission via larger respiratory droplets and direct contact with infected people or contaminated surfaces

Indoor Exposure to Selected Air Pollutants in the Home Environment: A Systematic Review

Indoor Exposure to Selected Air Pollutants in the Home Environment: A Systematic Review This study is a global systematic literature review that identifies the most studied indoor air pollutants, sources, and associated health effects in residential settings. High levels of particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and volatile organic compounds were linked to respiratory symptoms, especially in […]
Health, work performance, and risk of infection in office-like environments: The role of indoor temperature, air humidity, and ventilation

Health, work performance, and risk of infection in office-like environments: The role of indoor temperature, air humidity, and ventilation This publication show that 22°C-24°C and 40%-60% relative humidity are ideal, while proper ventilation reduces health outcomes and improves performance. Personal control over ventilation and humidity also helps. Read more below… Full reference of the article: Wolkoff […]
Indoor air quality in day-care centres: a global review

Indoor air quality in day-care centres: a global review With children being more vulnerable to the effects of poor IAQ, this review provides a global overview of the predominant indoor chemical pollutant levels in DCCs and proposes strategies for enhancing IAQ. IAQS interviews Allergy Standards : why is the indoor air crucial for asthma and allergy patients?

IAQS Interviews Allergy Standards: why is the indoor air crucial for asthma and allergy patients? Allergy Standards has joined forces with IAQS last year in 2022. To collaborate and stimulate debates, knowledge sharing and awareness around the importance of indoor air quality on occupant health in a healthcare and non-healthcare. Together we would like to […]
Modeling of aerosol transmission of airborne pathogens in ICU rooms of COVID 19 patients with acute respiratory failure

Simulations of aerosol dispersion due to COVID-19 patients in ICU rooms The COVID-19 pandemic has generated many concerns about cross-contamination risks, particularly in hospital settings and Intensive Care Units (ICU). Virus-laden aerosols produced by infected patients can propagate throughout ventilated rooms and put medical personnel entering them at risk. Experimental results found with a schlieren […]
Aerosol persistence in relation to possible transmission of SARS-CoV-2

How to judge the dangers of aerosol transmission of the Coronavirus? Transmission the Coronavirus may occur through exhaled aerosol droplets from infected humans. There is still much controversy over whether aerosol transmission is important as a route of transmission. By measuring and modeling the dynamics of exhaled respiratory droplets, the authors assess the relative contribution […]
