The Air We Share : shaping healthier indoor airquality in Europe and beyond.

IAQS participated in the IDEAL Cluster Summit, joining policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and public authorities in discussions on advancing healthier indoor environments across Europe and beyond.

People spend most of their lives indoors, yet air quality varies significantly between buildings, with children in schools and older adults in care homes often among the most exposed to poor indoor environments. Growing evidence links indoor pollutants to immediate health effects, reduced performance, and increased long-term health risks.

The IDEAL Cluster brings together seven Horizon Europe projects, more than 120 organisations, and over €50 million in investments to strengthen scientific knowledge, promote innovative solutions, and develop policy recommendations for cleaner indoor air. During the Summit, participants listened to presentations on key research findings, emerging evidence on health and socio-economic impacts, and a shared roadmap towards healthier indoor spaces.

IAQS took part in these exchanges and listened to the latest scientific and policy developments. It also had the pleasure of meeting with IAQS members present at the event, strengthening internal connections within the community.

Improving indoor air quality is increasingly recognised not only as essential for public health but also as an opportunity for innovation, smarter buildings, and more sustainable communities.
